Yoked Bodice Dress

This pattern is for a yoked bodice dress, with a high neckline and wide shoulders.
This dress is meant to be worn by girls from the age of 5 or 6 up until they graduate to adult clothing. It is meant to be worn as
daily wear, or dressed up with a little ribbon or trim, it is suitable for a better dress. We have included some options in this pattern to
allow you to create a dress that will be pleasing as well as serviceable.
Examination of
period photographs (CDV’s) show that the bodice and the skirt were attached to
the yoke and the waistband using several methods. Our instructions are for a
pleated method and a gathered method, as we found these to be the most common.
We have also included options for two styles of sleeves, a bishop sleeve (shirt
style) and a coat sleeve. Instructions are also given for different methods of
hemming the dress.
