         Corded petticoats can be worn as an alternative to the hoop.  Not only do they help to provide the shape so popular to the Era, without the hassle of hoop wires, they can prevent the skirts from getting caught up between the feet when you move and are much safer around fire or flame.  Many women, who were dressing not “for fashion” but for service and day-to-day life, used corded petticoats.  The ADULT corded petticoat has a bottom circumference of just under 90” makes it perfect for camp/ work or other styles of dress with a narrow hemline.

Corded petticoats are great for children and teens, providing the  desired shape, as well as being

machine washable. Mom’s who have had to deal with pulling and replacing hoop skirt wires, will appreciate this.  A wonderful way to satisfy a girls want for fluff and puff.

This corded petticoat is styled with three rounds of cording at the lower edge, but instructions are

included if more rounds are desired.  A drawstring waist is suggested for an adaptable garment, but instructions are included for a fitted waistband as well as an optional ruffle.

With it’s drawstring waistband, this is truly a one pattern for the whole family, as all ages and sizes are included.

Adults—full length with a 90” circumference

Teen—full length with 65” circumference

Child’s—calf-length with 45 or 65” circumference

Pattern Requirements:

3 - 4 yards of cotton depending on size and choice of ruffle

Lace or ribbon for trim

3/4” cotton cord
