Baby Blue Ribboned Black Net Victorian Daycap
Baby Blue Ribboned Black Net Victorian Daycap
Our pretty day cap features a black net cap, trimmed with baby blue silky folded ribbon accented with black glass beads. 1/2 inch black lace softens the edge of the cap. A chevron of black and white laces finished with a black ribbon rose and baby blue tails accentuate the back of the cap. Many descriptions of day and morning caps from the periodicals of the Era mention the combination of black and white laces used together. Two simple metal clips provide a comfortable and secure way to keep the cap on your head. The back of the cap is gathered to the neck to hold your hair or can be left looser for a softer look. The ribbon encased gathering allows the cap to fit most head sizes. This is a soft light-weight cap that is easy to wear and offers a great way to complete your look. Net and lace may vary slightly from pictures.
Not sure what to do with your hair? A cap just may be the perfect answer for you. This cap offers a practical way to tame unruly or shorter hair while still giving you the overall look of the Era. The mannequin used to photograph this day cap has 3 inch long hair.
Day caps were worn by most married women for both morning and day wear. The social status and economic means dictating the fabrics and trims used. Many of the more elaborately trimmed caps were worn for evening wear as well.
"Morning and dress caps are unusually pretty this season. They no longer resemble the old-fashioned cap, but are rather an elegant headdress." Godey's, August 1862 The CDV shows a lady wearing a similar cap.
