Black Ribbon Hairnet with choice of Purple Ribbon Coronets Perfect for Second Mourning, Victorian
Black Ribbon Hairnet with choice of Purple Ribbon Coronets Perfect for Second Mourning, Victorian
A pretty ribbon hairnet suitable for both day and evening wear. The black coloring of this hairnet makes it the perfect accessory for your Mourning attire. Add the touches of Purple and this is perfect for those Second Mourning attires. Many older women wore shades of purple and greys for the rest of their lives.
Our pretty ribbon hairnet features your choice of a coronet of folded ribbons as listed below. The net itself is of black satin ribbon beaded with black glass beads. The ribbon portion of the net is constructed over a layer of simple tulle which helps keep the hair underneath neat, in place and stop it poking out of the head-dress. A metal headband, which is encased in the coronet, provides a comfortable and secure way to keep the net on your head. Rolled elastic at the nape of the net, allows for size adjustment. The net will fit over most head sizes and hair lengths.
Coronet Ribbon Choices: (See pictures)
1. Changeable deep purple folded ribbon beaded with black glass beads and finished with deep purple bows.
2. Black satin folded ribbon accented with lavender ribbon roses, centered with a pearl
3. Black satin folded ribbon overlayed with purple velvet ribbon ending in velvet ribbon bows.
4. Black satin folded ribbon beaded with black glass beads and accented with purple ribbons threaded through the folds and accented with purple bows.
This is not only a nice way to complete your look, but a practical way to hide a shorter hairstyle. (The mannequin head shown has hair no longer than 3 inches all over)
This hairnet is based on one shown in Godey's Lady's Book, March of 1860. This net is appropriate for civil war re-enactors, living historians, and others looking for a period correct Victorian or Elizabethan/ Renaissance look. It would also be a good item for workers or volunteers at historical sites. What to do with your hair is often one of the harder parts of reenacting. We think this hairnet offers a great solution.
