A black lace cap, trimmed with black satin folded ribbon accented with bows. 1 inch wide black lace softens the edge of the cap. A metal headband, which is encased in the day cap, provides a comfortable and secure way to keep the cap on your head. The back of the cap is gathered to the neck to hold your hair or can be left looser for a softer look. The ribbon encased gathering allows the cap to fit most head sizes. This is a soft light-weight cap that is easy to wear and offers a great way to complete your look. This black, on black, on black cap is the perfect finish to a mourning look when you are not in a position to wear your mourning bonnet and veil.

BASIC BLACK! Great for mourning or widows but also a good neutral cap that could work with most dark outfits.

Not sure what to do with your hair? A cap just may be the perfect answer for you. This cap offers a practical way to tame unruly or shorter hair while still giving you the overall look of the Era. The mannequin used to photograph this day cap has 3 inch long hair.

Day caps were worn by most married women for both morning and day wear. The social status and economic means dictating the fabrics and trims used. Many of the more elaborately trimmed caps were worn for evening wear as well.

"Morning and dress caps are unusually pretty this season. They no longer resemble the old-fashioned cap, but are rather an elegant headdress." Godey's, August 1862. The CDV shows a lady wearing a similar cap.
