TSM-768 Boy's Regimental Sack Coat (Confederate Military and Civilian) Sewing Pattern
TSM-768 Boy's Regimental Sack Coat (Confederate Military and Civilian) Sewing Pattern
TSM-768 Boy’s Regimental Sack Coat pattern is for a basic unlined sack coat, that can be made in either the confederate military or a civilian style. The coat is styled so that it hangs loosely off the shoulders and falls straight to about mid-hip which allows for easy body movements making it the perfect jacket for growing boys. During the Civil War, boys liked to dress in uniforms as a show of patriotism. The military version of this sack coat allows mothers to make a jacket, just like the confederate soldiers. We have included instructions for both a fold-over and a stand-up collar as well as adding branch colors to the collar and cuffs. Many CDV’s exist showing young lads dressed in sack coats. Some were of coarser material and meant for work clothing; others were of a finer weight wool and meant for casual dress.
