TSA-550 Button Bonnet Pattern is for a button bonnet with a brim that nicely covers the face but does not have the pronounced blinder effect that the slat bonnets do. Button bonnets are much plainer, more serviceable and require a larger piece of fabric. It uses buttons and buttonholes to give the bonnet shape. The one major benefit to this style of bonnet is the fact that when unbuttoned it lies completely flat and open. This makes washing, ironing, and storage much easier. A moderate curtain covers the neck. The button bonnets were used mainly as work bonnets; they were seldom worn “for good”. If you are looking for a “good” cloth bonnet, try Timeless Stitches patterns TSA-551 Poke Bonnet or TSA-553 Shaped Cloth Bonnets.

2/3 yd of ¼”- ½” ribbon for back drawstring
* You can make this from scrap fabric if desired as this does not show.
