This skirt can be used for everything from a camp skirt to a ball gown bottom. The skirt is designed to be pleated in the front and gauged in the back. Gauging (Cartridge pleating) was one of the methods used to gather the fabric into the waistband. The waistband utilizes two openings which makes the skirt adjustable for waistline changes. Information is given on skirt lengths, trim options and hem choices. By the Civil War years cartridge pleating had fallen out of use for all but a few items, so this pattern makes a great skirt for the 1840- to early 1860 era. The pattern includes detailed instructions on how to cartridge pleat. This pattern works great with any of the Timeless Stitches Bodice Patterns.
