TSD-310 Girl's Basic Dress Sewing Pattern/19th Century Girls Basic Dress
TSD-310 Girl’s Basic dress pattern for a basic dress is meant to be worn by girls from the age of 5 or 6 until they graduate to adult clothing. It is meant to be worn for daily wear, or dressed up with a little ribbon or trim, it is suitable for a better dress. The back-opening dress features a jewel neckline and a fitted waistband. Examination of period photographs (CDV’s) show that the bodice and the skirt were attached to the waistband using several methods. Our instructions are for a pleated method or a gathered method, as we found these to be the most common. Instructions are also given for different methods of hemming the dress. Options include both a bishop (shirt-style) and a coat sleeve.
