Lady's Crochet Collar Made from 1860's pattern, Choice of 3 colors
Our new handmade cotton crocheted collar is designed to cover a round neckline. The collar is made using a pattern published in Weldon's Practical Crochet. This pretty collar is 2 inches wide and is available in 16, 17, 18, and 19 1/2 inch lengths. The collar is intended to be joined at the center front with a suitable broach, which can also attach the collar to the front of your dress. The collar is made of 100% cotton thread in your choice of the three basic colors most often used during the Era - white, cream and black. It may be washed in warm water and laid flat to dry. The pretty lacy look of this collar makes it the perfect complement to your wardrobe.
This collar is shown with a pretty broach that is NOT included in this listing.
Whether you choose a simple solid cotton for work or everyday wear or a pretty crocheted version for a lightly dressier look, collars offer an easy and unique way to change the look of your outfit. Regardless of age, social status, economic conditions or where you resided in the country, collars were an essential part of every lady's wardrobe during the 19th Century. With the number of examples and patterns in the period publications as well as examination of existing period photos (CDV’s) it is safe to say that crocheted collars were very popular.
If you would like to make your own collar we offer the pattern in our Victorian Needle Arts Booklet, Volume 1. It is also available in a download version.
