TSM-742 Regimental (Confederate) Sack Coat Sewing Pattern, Civil War Era Regimental Sack Coat
Pattern is for a regimental sack coat, that can be made either lined or un-lined. The design is based on the basic sack coat used by the confederate soldiers and described in the State of North Carolina regulations. We have included instructions for both a fold-over and a stand-up collar. We have also included instructions on adding branch colors to the collars and cuffs.
Fabric Requirements:
2 - 2 ½ yards (depending on size) of 60” wide fabric
OR 2 –2 ½ yards of 45” wide fabric for small or medium
3 –3 ½ yards for larger sizes
6-7 large size military buttons or if you are making a state coat you may want state buttons. Coats from home also used bone or wood buttons.
For lined coat: Similar amount of lining fabric: cotton, muslin or osnaburg
Sizing:
The pattern includes all 5 sizes: Small, Medium, Large, X-large and King
