TSB-110 Swiss Body pattern offers a fitted Swiss Body with a pleated peplum back and pointed front. The ruffles at the sleeve cap and around the peplum serve to soften the lines, but if a tailored look is desired the ruffles can be omitted. A small belt at the center back adds distinction, and can be used to draw in the back, adding to the overall fit of the garment. If you prefer this can be omitted and two buttons placed at the head of the pleats.

Swiss Bodies, vests and other “waists” were very popular as younger woman could wear a skirt, waist and Swiss Body and be considered “dressed.” This considerably extended her wardrobe. A satin, silk or velvet Swiss Body can be worn for evening wear, by those of all ages. These were often embroidered, beaded or extensively trimmed. Swiss Bodies were also worn for traveling as they did not restrict movement like a full bodice or jacket did, but still provided warmth.

TSS-203 Gored Skirt works very well, as the tailored lines of the skirt compliment the tailored look of the Swiss Body. TSB-120 Tucked Body and TSB-121 Guimpe both work well as a “blouse” for under your body.
