TSD-301 Two-Tiered Tea Dress Sewing Pattern, Civil War Era Dress Pattern
This pattern is for a modified V-necked bodice with tiered pagoda sleeves and a two-tiered skirt. The bodice has “revers” or lapels at the neck and is fitted to the body using vertical pleats from the shoulders to the waist. The skirt is in two tiers with a built-in “Medici” belt on the waistband and a center back opening. The trim on the sleeves is repeated on the tiers of the skirt. This dress can be worn by women of all ages, with the choice of fabric, colors and trims varying with the age of the wearer.
The bodice has many of the features key to the Era:
Long shoulder seams which fall off the shoulder and towards the back
Side seams are towards the back
Bodice fastens in the center front
Armscye shaped to appear diagonal and sew with piping
Sleeves are full at the elbow
Back is cut in a princess-line and accented with piping
The V-necked bodice is designed to be filled with a chemisette (TSA-502 Chemisettes and collars works well) or you can use the detachable insert that is included with the pattern.
Sizing:
The pattern includes four sizes:
Small, Medium, Large and X-large.
Pattern Requirements:
7 - 8 yds of 45” fashion fabric
2 yds lining/ contrasting fabric
5 1/2” buttons
Plastic canvas and felt
Fine cord for piping
